The Community Life has just concluded a 2-day training session for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Owerri North Local Government of Imo State.
The program was aimed at equipping PWDs with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to survive, understand their rights, and protect themselves from discrimination.
Celine Osukwu, the Programme Coordinator of Community Life, said that this training would expose participants to existing human rights laws that protect them and also enable them to network with sources and individuals that can assist them in advocacy.
“These problems faced by the physically challenged in society affect the women among them the most. The exercise will form a lasting solution to the problems,” she said.
Barrister Aloysius Ezioko, a PWD participant, admonished PWDs to seek legal interventions when necessary and become socially viable. He applauded the State Government for domesticating the PWDs Law in 2024 and advocated for its proper implementation.
