The 15-year-old Nigerian artist who broke the Guinness World Record has been recognised by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, who is non-verbal and on the autism spectrum, created the world’s largest painting by an individual, covering 12,303.87 square metres. This achievement earns him a spot in the Guinness Book of Records and the attention of the Governor.
The Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe, on behalf of the Lagos State Government, applauded the young Nigerian and commended his resilience.
“At just 15, Kanyeyachukwu has accomplished what many would deem impossible. His record-breaking canvas, now recognised globally as the largest in the world created by an individual, is not only a personal triumph but also a powerful reminder that impossibility is truly a myth,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to investing and supporting platforms that would naturally inherent creativity and youthful innovations.
“On behalf of the government and people of Lagos State, I congratulate Kanyeyachukwu for showcasing the Nigerian spirit of resilience and excellence on a global stage. You have inspired your peers and reminded us all that impossibility is indeed just a myth,” he added.
His parents revealed that he has found a means of expression in his arts, as he is unable to communicate conventionally.
