The Special Assistant to the Governor of Katsina State on Disability Matters, Hon. Umar Jibril Bindawa has advocated scholarship and job opportunities for People Living With Disabilities.

Hon. Bindawa said this during a tour of government institutions in the state over the weekend.

The governor’s aide stated that ongoing efforts to promote inclusivity in the state should seek to empower PWD in education and employment.

He urged that 5% employment quota should be effectively implemented, adding that a dedicated Disability Desk Officers should be established across Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government.

The Disability Desk Officers, according to Hon. Bindawa, will “advocate for and address the needs of PWDs.” He further said on the scholarship and job quota: “Expanding educational opportunities for PWDs through foreign scholarship programs to build their capacities.

“Ensuring the effective implementation of the 5% employment quota for PWDs in the state to enhance their participation in the workforce,” Hon. Bindawa said.
