The Governor of Katsina State, Mallam Dikko Umar Radda, has approved N7 million for a scholarship programme for persons with disabilities in the state.
This is part of the N677,572,815 approved by the governor for the payment of bursary allowances, academic excellence awards, and scholarships for Katsina State indigenes studying in various tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The approval was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Mohammed, on Saturday.
According to the breakdown of the approved funds, N283,521,639 will be disbursed as bursary allowances to newly admitted Katsina students, N15 million will fund the State Government’s Award of Academic Excellence for First-Class graduates, and N7 million will support the Annual Scholarship Programme for Persons with Disabilities.
Recall that in September 2024, the Governor disbursed N372,051,176 for students, bringing the total investment for the 2024/2025 academic session to N677,572,815.
The Governor said the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the scholarship scheme demonstrates the administration’s commitment to ensuring that no student is left behind, regardless of their circumstances.
