The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has renewed its partnership with the National Association for Exceptional Children (NAEC) in a bid to promote inclusion. This collaboration was extended in a strategic meeting with a delegation from NAEC led by the National President, Professor Julius Abiola Ademokoya.
The NAEC President commended the NCPWD for its support during the 2025 International Disability Day celebration and appreciated their consistent advocacy for the rights of persons with disabilities in the community.
He also pledged full commitment and readiness to work with the commission in advancing inclusive education, agricultural empowerment, and economic support for exceptional children and their families.
The Executive Secretary of NCPWD, Hon. Ayuba Burki Gufwan, lauded NAEC for its service to humanity and for promoting inclusive development. He expressed concern over the problem of funding that hinders brilliant disability-focused initiatives while reaffirming the Commission’s dedication to policies that guarantee accessibility, education, and equal opportunities.
“Building a highly inclusive society is not only possible, but it is also necessary. We must work together to ensure that no child, no adult, and no community of persons with disabilities is left behind,” he stated.
Both institutions have agreed to strengthen support systems for exceptional children and create an environment where every Nigerian can thrive regardless of disability.
