NIMSIK Charity Foundation, a non-profit organisation, paid a visit to Modupe Cole Memorial Child Care and Treatment, a sanctuary dedicated to the care of children and adults with special needs, on the 2nd of August, 2025. The visit was aimed at supporting and encouraging inclusivity among persons with disabilities (PWDs) and displaced children.
The Charity Foundation, in its effort to promote and advocate for children’s rights while also improving the quality of life for PWDs in Nigeria, visited the childcare home in Akoka, Lagos State, to interact with the children and spend time with them.
Staff members at the institution shared their daily realities in providing care for these vulnerable individuals and conducted the visitors on a guided tour.
As part of the outreach, gift items — including bags of rice, cartons of noodles and spaghetti, gallons of palm oil, cereals, and seasonings — were presented to the children and PWDs. The team also took time to engage the children, playing with them and sharing moments of genuine connection.
The General Secretary of the Charity Foundation, Oyebanji Saidat Damilola, noted that beyond meeting the immediate needs of the beneficiaries, it was necessary to build bonds and make them feel loved.
“This experience has reminded us that charity is not only about giving; it is about understanding, connecting, and standing in solidarity with those who need it most,” she said.
While photographs were not permitted due to the privacy and protection of the children, the interactions brought sheer joy, laughter and freedom for both the visitors and the host.
NIMSIK empowers vulnerable individuals by providing them with resources, support, and opportunities.
