The Government of Kwara State has pledged support for an initiative aimed at protecting the rights of persons with cerebral palsy and their families.
The Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam, gave the government’s pledge while receiving the Founder of the Ifeoluwa Cerebral Palsy Initiative, Mr. Ifeoluwa Oluwaseyi Anise, and his team during a courtesy visit.
The commissioner declared the government’s support to empower and promote the advocacy of these affected people while focusing on inclusion and awareness creation. She emphasised the importance of easing the burden of persons with cerebral palsy in the state by creating a viable physical and emotional environment. She also commended Mr. Anise for initiating such an impactful project in society.
According to her, this initiative is a noble contribution to societal progress and development. Mr. Anise disclosed that the major agenda during the courtesy visit was to seek collaboration with the Ministry and extend an invitation to the state government ahead of the upcoming Cerebral Palsy Day celebration on October 6th.
He revealed that this celebration would mobilise stakeholders, heighten awareness, and provide proper enlightenment about cerebral palsy. He noted that caregivers and persons with cerebral palsy would be equipped with important skills useful for their independence and improved standard of living.
Conclusively, the commissioner was presented with a plaque of recognition in appreciation of her efforts and role in promoting inclusive policies and social development projects in Kwara State.
