The Nigeria National Association of the Deaf (NNAD) has concluded its strategic governance and empowerment training for its Board of Trustees (BOTs), National Executives and staff.
The program was held at Class Suite Hotel, off Obafemi Awolowo Way, Jabi, Abuja, on the 16 and 17 February 2026, with a focus on enhancing leadership capacities and responsibilities of persons with disabilities.
Former Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Dr James David Lalu, gave the keynote address, citing the utmost need to formally recognise the efforts of the Secretary’s staff and sustain organisational growth.
Also speaking, the Africa Representative of the Disability Rights Fund (DRF), Mr Theophilus Odaudu, reaffirmed his organisation’s commitment to advancing the goals and purpose of the Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) across Africa, stressing the importance of transparency, accountability, and sustainability in donor-funded projects.
The training equipped NNAD members with essential skills and knowledge to protect vulnerable members, strengthen governance and promote growth among Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
