Nigeria’s para badminton player, Gift Ijeoma Chukwuemeka, has clinched the gold medal in the Women’s WH2 category of the Africa Para Badminton Championships 2025, defeating Africa’s top-ranked player, Shaimaa Samy Abdellatif.
She made this remarkable win in Umuahia, with a comeback from a poor opener. She displayed resilience, mobility and tactical intelligence.
“This victory is for Nigeria and for everyone who believes that determination can overcome any limitation,” she said.
This triumph implies that Nigeria now holds the record of the foremost para badminton player on the continent.
